The Moon Bear gets its name because of the white crescent shaped patch on its chest. It is also known as the "Asiatic black bear". Male Moon Bears are larger than the females and weigh up to 150kgs, while females weigh about 90kgs. Habitat loss, illegal trading, poaching, and cruel bile harvesting in captive breeding farms are just a few of the threats faced by Moon Bears.
